About Me

I am Najat Alshafie, a Saudi writer and artist who finds beauty in words, colors, and the rhythm of languages. My creative journey began on my personal website in 2015, where I first shared my short stories, poems, and drawings. Since then, I have continued to weave worlds through fiction and imagery, believing that art has the power to unite people and transform the world into a place of warmth, serenity, and peace.

In July 2022, I published my first Arabic short story collection, Under Voluntary Stay!, a work that reflects my passion for storytelling and my belief in literature’s ability to echo the unspoken layers of human experience. Alongside writing, I draw using different media, capturing fleeting emotions and the beauty of everyday life. I also translate both literary and scientific works from English to Arabic, bridging cultures and expanding access to knowledge.

For over 25 years, I have taught English language skills as a lecturer, mostly at the university level. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics from the University of Lancaster and a Master’s degree in English from the University of Bahrain. Today, I live in Saudi Arabia, surrounded by the tranquil rhythm of farms and the captivating sea—landscapes that continue to inspire my creative work.

Art, nature, and language illuminate my life, and I invite you to explore and share in this artful journey.

أنا نجاة الشافعي، كاتبة سعودية. صدرت مجموعتي القصصية الأولى تحت الإقامة الاختيارية عام ٢٠٢٢م، ولي نصوص قصصية وشعرية ورسوم وترجمات منشورة في موقعي الإلكتروني. حاليًا، أستعد لإصدار مجموعتي الثانية التحديق في الماء في ٢٠٢٥م

إلى جانب شغفي بالأدب والفن، أعمل أكاديميّة متخصّصة في تعليم اللغة الإنجليزية. أدرس اللغة الإنجليزية في كليات الأصالة ودرستُ اللغة الإنجليزية في جامعة الدمام، وأحمل ماجستير في اللغة الإنجليزية من جامعة البحرين، ودبلومًا في اللغويات من جامعة لانكستر، إضافةً إلى دبلوم تربوي من جامعة الملك عبد العزيز. قدّمت العديد من الدورات التدريبية، وأنا عضو في جمعية الفلسفة السعودية كما قدمت ورقة في مؤتمر الفلسفة ٢٠٢٤م عن دور التضامن في دعم اللاعبات السعوديات من ذوات الإعاقة

أؤمن بأن الأدب والفن فضاء رحب للحوار والتجربة الإنسانية، وأن الكتابة والرسم والترجمة جسور تمتد بين الثقافات

أنا الغارقة في بحور السرد

ترسمني القوافي

تقذفني الأمواج من قصيدة إلى آخرى

أرحل وحيدة 

متيمة بالحروف

وألوان الطيف

علّني أَصِلُ ضفاف الكلام

.قبل أن ينحسر النور

طَالَتْ الغُربة

اللوحات أراضٍ يباب

الملحُ يسِّد كل مسام الصفحات

الأشواك تنغرز تحت جلد الكتب

 .يكسوها الرماد

   لمحتُكَ مُقبِلاً مُمْتطِياً صَهوةَ محبرة بيضاء

تَجَدَدَ أملٌ نرجسيٌ  ببشارة الأبجدية

صِرْنا مِداد القلم والقلب

.كلما أشتدت عواصف الكلمات

هبَّ نسيمُ البوح 

 ليجتاح كل النصوص المحرمة

 أعشقُ السفر في قوافي عينيك 

   أُبحِرُ في كل فاصلة ونقطة

 أنَسُ بِلُغَةِ العشق وطلاسمه

  على شواطئك الدافئة

 .تَضُمُنِي في كؤوس الشوق

لنُضِيء هذه المساحات الحميمة

 نَثْمَلُ في حِبْرِ الكَلِمةِ وغواية اللون

نُعانِقُ قوافل العابرين

عند ينابيع الحروف الممطرة

والأصداف المتبرجة

لِنُمطِر نَصَاً ورسماً

أنا كُلُّها

.وكُلُّها أنت
